Board-Certified Orthodontist in McKinney, TX
Dr. Doug Jensen, DDS, MS
Dr. Doug Jensen has worked hard to become an artisan in the dental field. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry, he began extensive, specialist-level training within the field of prosthodontics at the University of Texas at San Antonio. This top-notch program demanded sophisticated treatment planning and refined hand skills. While there, he combined old world dental craftsmanship with various new technologies. Also ingrained in him was the concept of interdisciplinary care, working together among professionals to provide the highest level of treatment for patients.
As he worked with other specialists, Dr. Jensen became interested in orthodontics as a means to rehabilitate teeth, muscles and joints. He was subsequently motivated to seek training in this second specialty, also at UT San Antonio. Now, Dr. Jensen is one of only a handful of doctors in North America with a dual specialty in both orthodontics AND prosthodontics. Additionally, he is a Board Certified orthodontist and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics — a distinction that fewer than 20% of practicing orthodontists achieve.
Dr. Jensen dedicates himself to following, mastering and teaching the latest advancements in orthodontics, aesthetic dentistry and complex reconstructions. Through his education and real-world experience, he has become accomplished in the art of beautiful smile design. But really, the skills it takes to do what he does are something that he has cultivated since he was a young kid.
“What I strive for is to accurately inform people about their smile and teeth in a sincere, honest setting. Patients should feel confident that I am behind the scenes, organizing an elegant, individualized plan for them and fussing over the details. When we get to work, they’ll know that things are being addressed properly and skillfully according to their needs and wants, whatever their age or difficulty of the problem.”
Dr. Jensen has been involved in research related to the utility of the latest dental 3D imaging technology: cone beam computed tomography. He has been consistently active in organized dentistry, including the American Association of Orthodontists®, the American College of Prosthodontics and the North Texas Dental Society, as well as in local study clubs consisting of other quality-oriented doctors. He routinely works with like-minded dentists and specialists to design treatment plans best suited for mutual patients.
Despite his extensive training and experience, Dr. Jensen practices with an easygoing demeanor, relating well to children and adults alike. The result is a blend of good-natured fun and technical talent and know-how. Patients quickly appreciate that they are treated with respect, compassion, and the best possible result that fits their needs. It is not uncommon to find Dr. Jensen about the office taking extra time as needed to exceed the expectations of those in his care. He truly gets excited about a first-class treatment outcome and, just as importantly, a great patient experience.
Dr. Jensen has been practicing in the McKinney/Frisco area since 2007 and provides an atmosphere of technically exceptional care and a great team to brighten your day. He is happy to treat new and existing patients and welcomes patients of all ages with no “project” too great or too small.
When Dr. Jensen is not pursuing his professional passion, he can be found spending time with his wife of over 20 years, Cherie, and his daughter, Liberty. He earned his private pilot license when he was 17 years old and has been flying ever since. He also loves pursuing his passions in DIY home projects, automobiles, pistol shooting, music and photography. Check out the photos on this website; he took every one of them! He also grew up tap dancing and helps his daughter learn the same skills. He loves singing baritone in a choir called Millennial Choirs and Orchestras (MCO), an organization whose purpose is to soften hearts, improve lives, and unite communities across America by creating beautiful sacred and classical music that praises God. He has performed in the Myerson Symphony Center in Dallas, in the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, and even in Carnegie Hall in New York. He enjoys outdoor activities, such as running and other sports, nature, and scouting (he is an Eagle Scout). He is also quite active in service to his church and its related commitments. With all of his interests, he is quite able to relate to kids and adults alike.
